Product Care, Storage & Shelf Life
At Elastomade, our latex and latex-free (TPE) products are made to perform — and with the right storage and care, they keep their elasticity, strength and colour throughout their shelf life. Whether you are a distributor warehousing stock or an end-user training at home, the following guidance helps you get the most from every product.
How to store your products
• Keep cool and dry — ideally 10–25°C and below 65% humidity.
• Keep out of direct sunlight and strong artificial (UV) light — the main cause of colour fading.
• Store away from ozone sources such as electric motors and fluorescent lights, and away from oils, solvents and chemicals.
• Store products relaxed and lay-flat — never stretched, hung under tension, tightly folded or crushed under heavy weight.
• Keep products in their original packaging until use; reseal once opened.
Shelf life & stock rotation
Stored as above, our latex products maintain their properties for up to 4 years from the date of manufacture, with our latex-free (TPE) range 5 years. Distributors should rotate stock on a First In, First Out (FIFO) basis using the batch/manufacture date, and inspect stock before resale.
Care & maintenance
• Clean with mild soap and lukewarm water; air-dry fully before storing — never store damp.
• Avoid alcohol, solvents, oils, lotions and harsh detergents.
• Inspect for nicks, tears or thin spots before each use, and retire any damaged product.
• Avoid over-stretching, and keep away from jewellery, nails and rough surfaces.
• Keep away from prolonged sun and heat (car boots, poolsides, heaters). For latex items, a light dusting of cornstarch helps prevent stickiness in storage.
Protecting colour
Because our resistance products are colour-coded by strength, protecting colour also protects function. Keeping products out of direct sunlight, heat and ozone keeps colours true and resistance levels easy to identify. Our latex-free TPE range is especially colour-fast.
A note on materials
Our natural rubber latex products need the strictest protection from sunlight, heat and oils. Our latex-free TPE products are recyclable, colour-fast and ideal for latex-sensitive users — they still benefit from cool, dry, shaded storage. For OEM and private-label partners, we can co-brand this care guidance onto your packaging
